Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) is a global initiative established by the plastics industry to reduce and ultimately eliminate the release of plastic pellets into the environment. In the United Kingdom, the programme is spearheaded by the British Plastics Federation, with the aim of ensuring that plastic pellets, flakes, and powders are handled responsibly within manufacturing facilities so that they do not end up polluting rivers or seas.
Operation Clean Sweep (OCS)® is launched on 8 December 2022 by the Malaysian Plastics Manufacturers Association (MPMA). Being the sole OCS partner in the country, MPMA wishes to promote the adoption of the programme by the plastics industry in Malaysia.
Companies that sign up to Operation Clean Sweep make a clear commitment to follow industry best practices, put in place preventive systems, and continuously monitor their processes to minimise pellet loss. By doing so, they not only safeguard the environment but also demonstrate their responsibility as sustainable and accountable industry players.
