The National Circular Economy Council (NCEC), chaired by Minister of Housing and Local Government Nga Kor Ming, has approved several key policy initiatives aimed at advancing the circular economy in Malaysia. They agreed that companies should take on more responsibility for managing the waste their products create.
The council also made it a rule that products should be designed to be more sustainable and that all large shopping centers must provide recycling facilities by 2026. These decisions are part of a larger plan to help Malaysia better handle its waste.

At Sin Yong Guan Industries, sustainability is not just a commitment, but it is part of our direction forward. One of the key steps we have taken is our solar energy project at the headquarters, where we have installed rooftop solar panels to generate our own electricity. This marks one of our key efforts towards green energy and long-term sustainability.
Beyond renewable energy, we have also integrated ESG principles into our company’s strategic direction. Alongside this, we are introducing a range of sustainability-focused initiatives, which we will continue to share with from time to time.
To ensure that every step we take is aligned with the principles of a Circular Economy, we have appointed Smart Circularity Sdn Bhd as our strategic advisor, guiding us with these initiatives.
